GCF / LCM Using Prime Factorization

This is an extremely useful resource for introducing or reinforcing the steps for finding the Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple using Prime Factorization. The activity contains three different examples and allows the teacher/student to go through each process step-by-step.

The Home Page contains links to each step-by-step instruction set (24 and 45 / 12 and 80 / 3, 9, and 21) for finding the GCF, the LCM, or the Prime Factorization. When determining the Prime Factorization, students can drag out a list of factors for the current number and they can also pull out a list of Prime Numbers up to 100. The examples for GCF and LCM use color matching to make it easy to understand what factors are used for determining the answer.
